Re: Bushboy's Uno Turbo Restoration Thread UPDATED 10/03/06

with engines your mean't to put some engine flush in with the oil and run for lik 15-20mins at idle ONLY then cool off a bit and dump it out, But with a turbo car I wouldn't do that, it would damage the turbo bearings and oil seals, SO what I am going to do with my turbo volvo is just buy some cheapass oil (like 4 a gallon), dump old oil, fill with new nasty stuff, drive around a few days, then dump that and put some decent synth oil in there.

Youll regret it mate especially once you see it restored and running brilliantly

Im still waiting to get another mk2 UT after nearly 2 years of not driving one!

Alot of people have "moved on" but always want them back
it a trend ive noticed over the last year on Turbo Collective

Re: Bushboy's Uno Turbo Restoration Thread UPDATED 10/03/06

it does run brilliantly

nah ill miss the sheer power of it but ill be glad to be back in a cinq

i might buy one thats had all the restoration work done on it already in a few years when I can afford 2 cars.. then just keep it garaged and let it loose on weekends they arent a sensible comuting car really.

Re: Bushboy's Uno Turbo Restoration Thread UPDATED 10/03/06

All they are, are low compression 1.4 when the turbo isnt spinning, so no stress on the engine in theory so commuting was never a problem for me in my mk2

Only time mine failed me:

After a 14hr nite-shift (Master clutch failure, know fault due to age)
Clutch linings got extreamly hot due to some bad-ass GTI bashing!!
Ao i had no gear selection for 10 mins! lol

That it in 1 year of running mate
No problem at all
As long as you treat them right then they run and run and run.........

But if you cant afford it then i know exactly what you mean
But be warned, fully restored wil be pricey in a few years i think!
