Hi, I have a 54 plate doblo cargo 1.9 jtd . I have been having problems with starting for a few years now. first thing in the morning it would turn over slowly then gradually speed up and start. However in the last few weeks it has got worse and sometimes I have had to jump start it in the morning and it would be ok for rest of day. However the other day I put the key in and all dashboard lights came on but it wouldn't turn over. Next day battery was totally drained, not a volt left in it. Did some checking with multimeter and when I go across positive lead to starter motor and body work I get a dead short(is this not right ?). Left lead to starter motor disconnected overnight and battery was fine next day. Btw this is not a battery problem as I have bought 2 new batteries in the last year. Any solutions would be gratefully received.
thanks
steve

hi thanks for reply, turns out it was "spannered" new starter motor fitted works a treat now.

I had a Datsun years ago where the starter would not work when hot. You had to think about where you parked the thing. I let a friend borrow it while I was away in Germany and forgot to tell him :D Poor sod spent a week pushing it to start.
