i like it, will probly look even better in the flesh. Was just readin that there's to be a 1.4 turbo model, reminds me of a certain mk1.....

focus lights did copy mk1 punto in the first place though. (sort of) just as the mondeo (and the rest of the world) copied the bravo's!

It's a bit too rounded IMO, all the other Puntos have been angular and boxy which made them distinctive and cool. This ones not got the style of the old ones.

I think they should put the Mk1 back into production with a better chassis and engines (y)

Front ends got a Peugeot look about it but I do like the more rounded shape... was shown a few pics of if that my dealers had this week.

ooooh great, another anonymous euro/jap jellymould....i'm thrilled......1.4 turbo? in a body that will no doubt be heavier than the original mk1? come on fiat, lets get some balls here, even vw a company renowned for resting on ancient laurels have upped the stakes for the new gti, you have a 1.6l 180 bhp turbo engine in the works, thats the minimum for a sporting, look at renault and peugeot slugging it out with the clio cup 206 180.

push the boundries, its generally accepted that 220-230bhp is the max for a front wheel drive car...so lets put that into a punto with a sharper steering rack, tighter, lower suspension. aggresive body, semi stripped and lightened, the niche is there, others are proving the point YOU made years ago..make it small, make it light, make it FAST!

these are the flagship models, the mass market shopping trolleys can be the usual 1.1 litre, 4 x 4 stance with bike wheels

give us some sugar fiat

we crave

p.s. i am available for childrens parties, barmitvahs, weddings.....

i need to lie down

To me the front end looks civic-ish from that pic, and the back looks like the new mini's.. I could be wrong tho :chin:

i know that the basic platforms is the same as the new gm corsa. does this also include some of the engine line up. i heard somwhere (possibly a discarded crisp packet) theres to be a vxr version of the corsa. im trying to come up with a point here but am rapidly losing interes..... :whogives:

exactly..BORING with a capital WTF...we know it's for the all important super mini, blue rinse, school run, tesco shopping market, but like citroen found out with the vtr/vts, create a market, go after it, and you will reap the rewards.

forget a glimpse at the bargain basement, wheel out the road warrior, the tarmac terror, tell me that you're going to "uprate the 4x4 system from the panda, steroid up the engine to give 250bhp+ from a blown 16v 2.0litre engine, and the new cars called a PUNTOGRALE, oh yeah, and start saving cos you know you want it!"

tell us you used to rule the roost in the small car segment, and you've been remiss for a while, but now you're back, and you're a bad mutha, and you're gonna kick some ass

you know we'll love you for it....

Personally, IMO, I think this looks great especially the orange coloured three door version that can be seen on the website. I do agree however that the 'hot' versions will have to be HOT to compete with the likes of a Clio 182.

apparently they are to do a 1.9 diesel with 150bhp to take on the Fabia VRS, which is a fabulous car with 130bhp. Diesel is the way to go with hot hatches now, there is so much torque and the economy is great. An Abarth multijet will be the one, as for looks, well so far doesnt inspire me, but, with the right bodystyling for an Abarth... well who knows?

they did it with the stilo abarth, a great car and certainly not slow, but overall a bit underwhelming. had fiat of taken it by the balls and slapped a turbo on it, added another 50 bhp it really could have been something to worry all the Type (a)R(se) drivers etc out there. Fiat need to stop being an also ran company, and start winning. WINNING! GOOOOO TEAM! :D

Got to say im loving this new Punto, back to the original curvy shape of the mk1 as it was designed by the same people who did the first punto.

Got to disagree with Fiat going mad, this is the car that will make or break Fiat as they are in so much financial difficulty, they CANNOT take much of a chance like say BMW have recently.
