Hi all, does anyone know if the auxiliary belt idler bolt on the 1.9 jtd is reverse or normal thread?.. mine's just beginning to round off and i'm breaking out in a nervous sweat in case i'm doing it the wrong way!! i have the enormous task of reconditioning the head after a cambelt failure and i'm having to learn mechanics as i go!!!!:bang: any help would be greatly appreciated:slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer:

Can't see a reason why it would be a reverse thread.

If it is beginning to round off then get a "surface drive" socket socket as opposed to the normal "point" socket.

I mention reverse thread because the pulley i'm speaking of is from a multipla with air con that has a reverse thread tensioner pulleybolt. As you've probably gathered it's proving tough to move and just wondered if anyone knew for sure which way to force it. thanks for the tool tip though.. will defo give it a look.

This is no guarantee but often reverse thread bolts/nuts have small 'V' cuts in the points of the bolt/nut flange points.

If these cuts exist then definitely Left Hand / Reverse thread. If not then could be either unless you have evidence to the contrary.
