Guy Croft is your man for tuning Fiat Twin Cams and he's been going for a very long time.

The generally accepted 'Bible' varies according to whom you listen to but Guy wrote a book many years ago called (I believe) 'Tuning Fiat Twin Cams' or something similar. They are a fabulous engine and becoming quite collectable (rare) now, although there is a very healthy supporters/enthusiasts club.

The generally accepted first stage of tune was to throw a pair of 40DCOE Webers onto it, which immediately gave a very reliable 140bhp. Guy Croft produced some reprofiled cams which were very good indeed but awfully expensive. He was always considered the man who knew for that particular engine. Mangoletsi used to do some tuning bits but I can't remember much about them now.

IIRC some people used to put the 1800 crank into the 2litre engine as it was a shorter stroke and allowed higher revs. I think they used the 1600 rods and 2litre pistons but I'm not sure.

These engines always seem to endear themselves to anyone who has one, the sound, the feel, the tractibility is something very different to the norm. I always loved the engine and still have a fairly well breathed on example in my shed, but that is a long term project.......

OK.

The 2-litre Ritmo Abarth twin-cam has 4 cylinders splitted between 1995 cc. It has got double weber (or solex as ours) 40 carburettors. Delivers 130 bhp originally. Unbelievable powerful torque from bottom revs and up to 6000.

I have one of these engines in my Lenham/MG Midget and have been searching for the "Bible" for Fiat twin cams by Guy Croft for quite a while. These original workshop manuals are, however, very rare now and expensive (even used ones are fetching £175 on Ebay).

Anyway, I joined the Guy Croft Racing Engine forum in 2008 and more recently was informed that GC has just written a new limited edition available for £100 plus p&p. These books are worth getting..I've already ordered my copy as there's only so many being printed!
Good Luck...(y)
