Basically, I am wondering if anyone has the ability to read, or has copies of any Fiat spark maps from the Fiat ECU's.

I run a megasquirt system, and am tuning it myself. It seems almost perfect, I have tuned the fuel fine, cold start, acceleration etc.

The one area I have not tried to tune too much is the spark table.

I have a 1368cc 16V engine, ie. Panda 100hp, stilo 1.4, new bravo 1.4, punto mk2b 1.4, PG 1.4, Idea 1.4, 500 1.4 etc.

The spark map I use at the moment is a punto 75 map apparently, and it seems ok, but i would love to see the OEM spark map for this particular engine if possible.

Does anyone have one, or have the ability to read one from an ecu and post it up? Just so I have a better base to experiment from?

I expect GSR (peter) may be able to help, or some of the other tuners like Angel Tuning or N500?? the 500 tuning venture? I'm not after a worked map, or asking for any further help, and I am not intending to pay for after market tuning anyway as i can't afford it...so your not loosing any money from me :)

Cheers for any help you can offer :)

so what you're really asking is, how do you convert the stock ignition timing map into a megasquirt map?

i can see why you would want to do that. making one from scratch in megatune is a nightmare, and starting with a good base map will save you a lot of time.

all you need is a copy of the ecu rom file you want to use and some software able to open the rom file (i think its called OBDedit or something like that)

when you open your rom file you should have 2 tables (or more depending on the engine), ignition and fueling. you need to use the ignition table data.

first thing you may notice is that the MAP units are different to what megasquirt uses, so you need to convert them into kpa. first calculate the relative kpa vacuum (multiply the inhg by 3.3864), then subtract that from atmospheric pressure in kpa (always use sea level because megasquirt adapts) so you can determine the actual values in kpa.

right, now getting the data into megasquirt. in megatune export the ignition map (any) to a vex file. we'll modify this file then import it back into megatune.

open the vex file in notepad, then edit the rpm and kpa values yourself to suit the map you want to use. you may need to edit the amount of data (add some more) to change the size of the map from the usual 8x8 or 12x12 megasquirt map. save the vex file and import it into megatune as your ignition map. megasquirt will make it into a 12x12 map no matter what data you entered, dont worry its supposed to do that, it calculates the equivalent vales for a 12x12.

now you have a good base map ready to tweak!

i cant help you with getting an ecu rom file, but once you have it and some software that can open it, the rest is easy.

Cheers for all the input peeps (y)

I do have an ODB fault reader, and know someone who has a flasher. I never even though of reading the rom out like that, and decoding it. I'll have a hunt for this OBDedit program. I have access to a 100hp on the drive, so that'll be fine as long as i don't corrupt it :p

I am well aware that the scales, matrix size and data may be in a different format, but should be able to convert easy enough.

I know megatune like the back of my hand, so programming it in there is easy :)

I have a P75 ignition map in there at the moment, which does the job admirably, but it would be nice to at least see the 16v 1.4 spark map.

Of course, if anyone can make it easier, by posting an expample they may have I'd be extremely grateful.

btw, who is Augusto  Someone at GSR or Red Dot?

Thanks again everyone (y)

Kristian

He runs red dot racing but these days get a lot more input from Oldschool at GSR and I dont think they would cope without him either ..
