What do you need and which engine is it?

It's a 1.8 GL, i need to know what oil and the capacity.

Also want to check the Champion plug type (My local factors is crap and always gives you the wrong one!) and the gap.

Cheers

Dont like to give out innacurate info which is why I need as much detail as possible......

however NGK BKUR6ET10 plugs(1mm gap),4.5litres of oil(inc filter) & 5w/30 or 20w/50 dependent on climate/usage,this applies to plugs aswell.

cant believe there's comments about the reliability problems of a golf, there has never been a fiat, or any italian car, that is half as reliable or well built as the mk3 golf. if they ever manage to do it i'll be impressed.

My Seat had VW lump in it- it was nothing but trouble, seen loads of passats dropping their vital fluids on the hard shoulder, and my mate had a mk3 golf that wouldnt idle properly and had flats spots and power loss all over the place- and no matter how much money your threw at it it woudlnt work.

I just dont like it when everyone says somethings great and they actually make it out to be greater than it is. At least with a fiat you expect it to break.

Ok let's resurrect this Thread, as i need some more information.

The MKIII in question (the 1.8GL) has a possibility of two altenators:
70 amp or 90 amp.
There's no difference in price, so that's not the issue, the problem is, how to distinguish between the two. I believe Air-Con and Power-steering fitted can make a difference...

Any Ideas anyone? Pics of a 1.8GL motor without Air-con but with power steering would be nice if possible!

my first car and my pre first car (I bit like beau's list LOL), were polo's.
My first car I got to drive on the road was a 1991 polo coupe.
before that I had a 89 flatback polo.

both were horrific in the wet, but that was probably something to do wth the 135 profile tyres:eek:

and both blew headgaskets and continously leaked oil from every unreachable orefice.

loved them both though
