Just wondering if anyone has ever been on one of these driving "day" things, i use the word day loosely as from what i`ve seen they range from like 20 mins up to a few hours.

Are they a good a good male gift or just a waste of time and money?

It would be for a 26 yr old saxo vts driving chav lol

Any feedback would be great

Thanks

Ally

i'd always love to do one, but i think i'd like to use my own car, i'd **** myself in one of their lambo's etc

I have done about two reviews on hear for my experience driving the Silverstone GP track, it was in an audi TT, sure that provides enough for a search :)

Yeah been looking at ferrari track days, they look very funky but need a male view, as what i think is good, in a males eyes could be very lame! :(

I`ll try searching for that ty :)

TY for the links :) You have very good taste in camping destinations :D

I love derbyshire, i dont live in Derby not a great fan of it :(

Anyways back to the driving hee hee

I`ve looked at two so far...

First one you get to drive a Audi RS4, Subaru Impreza WRX, Lotus Elise and a Ferrari 335 ( driving last aprox 20 mins!!! )

Second one.. Ferrari 335 or 550 2 demo/passenger laps, 2 hot hatch laps (?) and 4 self drive laps in the 335 or the 550 ( one hour drive)

any good or keep looking?

Activematt you`ll have to ask santa and be a good boy

When they say "1 hour drive" will it actually be 1 hour driving or 1 hour in total when you include everything like safety talk, getting into cars, going through a few basics, breaks between laps etc. That would be my main concern, I would never spend a week's wages on 18 mins of "fun" again, or let it be bought for me as a gift. Sad but true :(

It`ll prob be an hour for everything i should think :( i`ll contact them to fine out before i decide i think.

Someone had said about hiring a lotus or something for a weekend, maybe that would be better? a whole weekend of a good car ( well anything gotta be better than a vts :p ) being stuck to speed limits or half an hour of "fun"

Don't go with Chequered Flag.
When I got there, just off the M42, it was just a roped off curcuit in a field. 5 laps in an old Golf GTi and 5 in an Imprezza. That was after a long wait because they kept breaking down. I didn't know how much it cost, I thought my kids had paid about £40.
I was shocked when I found out they'd paid £120!!!!!!!!!

better pressie would be the hire of a flashy car for the weekend. Maybe with a track visit?

Well, would being in a nice car for a day on our crappy conjested roads with numerous speed limits be something he would enjoy? I know I wouldn't! I guess it would be cool for about 10 minutes being able to beat anything off at the lights (etc. etc.) but once 30mph comes after a few seconds the whole thing would get tiresome - especially since it's not your own car to enjoy! Unless you intend to take any car like that onto a track (privately) then I don't see the point except as a talking point(!!!). I bet the contract you sign with them doesn't allow for you to take it onto a track.

The problem with all this is that you can drive a car whenever you want, granted not on a track of course. I think this means you have to go one step further to make it amazing - where as if you got him a flying lesson, it would certainly be amazing!

Would they allow that tho? i cant imagine they would be best impressed if you hired a car and ragged the hell out of it

I think when we all looked into a weekend hire for a nice car it was circa £1000? + silly money excess on insurance!

There must be some kind of track day where you can use more than one kind of car though? Have a go in a few? (but we're probably talking ££££££££££)

Paul: Flying lessons for birthdays are bad in two ways... not cheep, but thats ok, but worst of all, is you'll want to take it up, and the PPL is a lot of money. More than I can afford anyway.
