Hi guys,

I am moving town from Preston to Stafford and I will need to change licence address or some sort of proof of address in order to get car insurance in Stafford next month... I lost my counterpart but I heard that the counterpart is obsolete as of the 8th of June. I was thinking of changing my bank address for proof of address for the car insurance.









I want to do it this way to save me from paying for a counterpart which will be no use in a month. then after the 8th of June, change my drivers licence address.







Car insurance runs out on the 30th April.



Is this a good idea or not?

Just update your drivers license address online, last time I did this I didn't even send my old one back.

Certain companies do ask for proof of address upfront on what they classify as policies with a high risk of fraud ( e.g. young drivers saying they live in the middle of nowhere when they live in central Bradford etc, checking licenses are actually clean e.t.c.) to find the fraud before rather than after someone attempts to claim.

I have found my counterpart, it looked exactly the same as my provisional counterpart and I have sent it off! still got issues with my insurance and MOT etc... but that should be sorted.


Can't wait to drive my new Punto on the 1st May! Thanks guys for your help.
