The weather is slowly getting colder, it won't be long before we see the road gritters out preparing for those frosty mornings.

What do you all do, if anything, to prepare your cars for the coming Winter?

Anti-freeze?
Oil change?
De-icer?
Snow chains?

I've replaced the pollen filter and toped up with anti-freeze.

mini spade.
gloves
cheap donkey coat
and 2 balls of string
+ bike rapair kit (screwdriver spanners and a set of things to remove bike tyres could be ok with belts)
under bonnet light
and batt booster
2L of pure water

is my plan this year

antifreeze should be ok (was done about 1 month ago)

and i have 5 things of deicer ready to go
plus 2 tubs of concentrate

i aint bought it all yet but thats my plan if i ever get stuck
oh and some sort of food and drink

I have a small bag of tools in the boot, just enough for a bit of road side maintenance. Most importantly I keep my old mobile phone in there for emergencies. Its just a crappy old phone but it keeps its charge for months. Only ever needed it once so far but I was glad it was there after skiding into a ditch when a deer ran out in front of me.

Get some old carpet or them grippy rubber ones. If stuck in snow put them behind the wheels and it helps to grip (y)

Does anyone put chains on the tyres? I still need to work everyday and got stuck countless times as I drive on all side streets aswell. May be worth me getting a set of steelies with them fitted.

Make a flask of tea every time you leave! Just incase :p

Knowing this country, make sure the a/c is in good condition as will need it on those hot winter days, make sure my shorts and t-shirt is washed and my sunglasses are clean

Winter prep consisted of special nano technology coating to the windscreen that should prevent some cases of frost and snow (to a certain extent)

A Jacket (always in the car anyway)
Light up de-icer (ahaha thanks Dad)
A mobile phone... family always comes and bails me out if i'm ever in trouble (y)
Digged out a spare key for my car so i can turn the car on and leave it locked while having a cuppa in the morning.

I would'nt say snow tyres as my tyres aren't far off from being snow tyres  steelies with 165 tyres and about 7mm tread on all 4. (y)

I think i've got winter sorted...

Good scraper for the windows
Sunnies - there's loads of glare off wet / snowy roads
Fleecy blanket and foil survival blanket
Spare hat and gloves to be kept in the car
Foldnig spade
Tow rope
Jump leads

Will do a service V soon and will replace coolant for new, will replace the front slidemasters for a suitable winter tyre.

Ultimately I'll try and use the landy where possible, but if like last year my grandad needs to go to hospital then I'll put all my tools in the boot of the car too along with 4 season sleeping bag and survival bag, bottle of rum and a flask of coffee. He can't get into the landy so had to use car in horrible ice / snow and he lives halfway up a mountain
