Are Android phones any good? I like the look of a couple of them, but wonder what they are like to use? Anyone recommend one?

I got myself a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 yesterday and i already cant imagine how i managed without one before now

The HTC Desire (with Android v2.2) is highly rated - although battery life isn't nearly as good as an iPhone.

I've got the HTC Desire and couldn't live without it!

A full battery charge lasts a day and a half.. That's with Bluetooth permanently on, constant data connection and very heavy usage!

I had a HTC Touch and HTC HD before hand, both were Windows phones and neither one of them comes close to the Desire.. It makes me laugh to think that my phone has a more powerful processor (1Ghz) and more memory than my first computer

Hi I have a HTC desire, bloody brilliant phone, i have only had it a couple of weeks and its great, there is loads of things that i have not even used yet. it can be a little slower than an iPhone while doing somethings but it costs me half the price of an iphone.

for me the HTC is like a cut price iPhone, so far im pleased with it...

I've also got the desire, awesome bit of kit, I've had to change the screen and the digitizer on it and its a really easy phone to work on if you have to.

Careful with the USB port mines diecided it doesnt fancy charging after 2 months

i got myself an Htc hero with the 2.1 version Upgrade...brilliant phones, but the battery is the only thing that lets them down..everyday ive had to charge it(overnight), i might just end up getting another battery , if you were to get an android..get the Desire, X10 or the Hero.

I'd forget the Hero IMO (Even though I have a Hero) its "First Generation Android hardware".

My custom ROM, kernel with built in overlocking up to 710mhz makes a massive difference!

Used to having crappy battery life...iPhone lasts less than a day at the moment lol. If I'm going to work I have to think about not using it during the day so I can at work.

you can get bigger batterys for hte desire, they come with a larger back cover:

not tried one myself yet, but maybe worth ago.

Personally I'd go down the custom route and stop the phone / software burning up unnecessary battery capacity rather than putting a bigger battery in.

as long as i get a day out of the phone im fine
keep a micro USB cable in the car and one at work for emergency top ups
