Hi guys, me again

Basically in my search for a new MR2 turbo have come across this one...

Now its 200 miles away from me according to auto trader (gutted ) and i dont really fancy finding a lift to take me 200 miles (or travelling on public transport for that matter) to view a car if its going to be a very obvious crapper so if someone could stop by to take a quick look for me i would really appreciate it.

Looks tidy enough in pics but they can be decieving which is why want to err on side of caution (though not phoned to check mileage and mot/tax situ yet)

Just really want to know if its generally tidy looking etc and if get chance to get it started at all see if it smokes/knocks at all on idle etc

i work in gateshead, 6 miles drive to NEPX.
i've never heard of them before, which is odd considering they're local.

i'm really chockerblock with moving house this week but if you are genuinely interested i could take a quick look on saturday morning?

its fine, would be worth it for a sneaky test drive too

i've always liked them ever since the lasses bloke over the road got one

@Jug - the second the n/a is gone i'll be in position to throw money about if i've found the right car, and n/a could be going as early as this weekend, got a buyer (my mate lol) who's shifting his car atm (boggo renault clio) then buying mine the second his has gone He says he's had a few ppl wanting to come look at it but well its a std 1.2 clio shouldnt be too hard to shift.

okey dokey then i'll pop over on saturday, and i wont warn the garage i'm coming so i get to see the car in its natural state and witness a cold engine start

oh also if you're going to take a look for me prob saves me a call if you could check mileage while there (and if in kmh or mph speedo )

once one of you guys has had a look i'll phone him and see if he mentions any bad points to me that you guys may/may not find

the km/mile issue is always a grey area, and as its a partX i really doubt he'll know the situation or be able to back it up. so many times i've heard "its all km's mate, but the speedo has been adjusted". maybe on planet retard that makes sense, but on planet earth if your speedo is reading in miles then the odo is clocking miles. then you also have the issue of whether or not the kms were roled back to the equivalent miles when it was imported, some poeple do that because its easier than having a certain number of kms then a certain number of miles. its all fun and games. hopefully it wasnt imported too many years ago, that makes life easier.

99% of people when importing mr2's just leave speedo readings as it was when converting to mph, so if its reading in mph then its kmh and mph since conversion

if its reading mph it'll either be the 110mph speedo (not converted at all, literally just 110mph dial faces that fit over the 180kmh ones) or 180kmh speedo (this may have been converted to mph or still be kph i guess)

Like you say with any luck it wont have been in the uk too long

then when you sell it you need to say its got [Xkm + (odo-X)mls] which is fine except most people cant do the maths.

This is true actually, though some people just dont have a clue, like the one guy who has no serv history or anything with his '2 and says "assume all in kmh as no paperwork to say otherwise" made me laugh

just out of interest how do you look after your turbo? like tick over on cold start up, and when turning it off?

I know this garage they are in lemington/newburn area, They tried to sell me a 2.0 turbo corsa with a 1.4 logbook...to me it seemed a bit dodgy but its just along from B and Q on the riverside.

if you're getting at what i think you're getting at i always let it warm up and cool down but when driving from cold generally idle a bit before setting off and staying off boost for first bit of journey (and last bit generally)

sounds a bit dodgy, what was it like? assuming you went to look at it? as described etc or?

It wasn't that exact garage was north east part exchange centre but not the one listed was a different location but same logo guess they have 2 sites or have moved. I actually went to see a punto 85 elx that was there it was a heap....sales man said what you looking for? I said summat like my car but a bit more rapid....low and behold out comes a red top corsa, i say no my insurance would mangle me, (rather than its a corsa i'd rather chop my nuts off) he says no it dont matter its a 1.4 on the log book.
