I'm really split as I have been offered the PT Cruiser at a good price, and if you have seen my old cars, I love old custom cars. The Mondeo is a big family bruiser, but a fridge on wheels, its not car its an appliance.

Mondeos are S**T. My dad has a PT. Really nice cars. Mercedes engines underneath IIRC.

Been in a hire one in the US...very plasticky (you think Fiats are a bit flimsy!), uncomfortable seats, totally underpowered...I do like the looks however (but can't bear privacy glass, I like to be able to see out and it looks chavvy IMO)

Does it tick all your boxes on size, gizmos etc. Why not drive it and make your mind up on that basis...if you don't like after all, you can always sell on - you'll never struggle to get another Mondeo :)

its a melted Chrysler Neon that is target by the maker at women!

its FUGLY as hell, and is known as being a horrible drive

Autocar magazine has it as "a Novelty MPV minus the novelty!"

Can't be more plasticky than my Mundano TDDi Fridge. Its a good load lugger, but we can never find it in the car park. It has stealth.:) Gonna take it for spin, and the plastics side of things don't bother nor does the power side, well maybe a little. I like the look of them inside and out.

Well your already half way to getting it as you like the looks. Take it out for a spin, if its good enough for you then buy it.

Not my taste, but if everyone had the same taste it'd be boring.

I say get the Chrysler very good looking car! then fix her up and make it into something driveable (y) (even if it was a good ride you´d be changing alot or most of it to make it just that much better anyway:D )

If you do go for it remember to post pics! :yum:

As Serin mentioned, a PT Cruiser is just a Chrysler/ Dodge Neon in drag. Now go and look at what the reviews had to say about those cars...

And engine by Mercedes? I don't think so! It's more likely some dog of an engine built in south America under some global corporation deal.

If it's just the looks you're worried about then I'd say go for it. Very distinctive looking car styled on old school hotrods, and hats of to Chrysler for being brave enough to make a car looking like that in the first place along with the Dodge Viper and Plymouth Prowler. It's just a shame it's nothing special to drive and not exactly well built.

If you want build quality and driveability then the Mondeo wins hands down. But as you said, they take on stealth car properties in public car parks :p

Best thing to do is to drive one and see what you think. Only then can you decide.

If the price is right and you like the car who cares what other people say  i think they can look nice providing that they are in the right colour and that they are not OTT with modifications.

Crazy

The PT is different and I'm all for exclusive stuff and individuality but it comes at a price and sadly it's a harsh price to pay, I'd skip!
