Any help on this problem would be much appreciated!
I have recently swapped the standard (Blaupunkt) stereo head unit on my Fiat Punto 1.2 ELX (2000 - W reg) for a new Pioneer DEH-P77MP head unit.
The wiring diagram in the Fiat manual isn't too helpful but I managed to confirm the speaker wires in one of the euro connectors (top one) was correct and most of the wires in the bottom connector (which include earth and +12v (twice) + 12v switched. However, when I switched on the radio played OK but no sound was coming out of the SubWoofer. To check I hadn't damaged anything, I put the Blaupunkt back in and the SubWoofer worked OK. I also disconnected the very top coloured connector blocks on the Blaupunkt and the SubWoofer still worked.
If I annotate the bottom connector and the Fiat side of the wiring, it looks like this:
1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8
1=Not Connected
2=Green/Blue - switched 12v (i.e. comes on with ignition)
3=Grey - auto antenna?
4=Red/Black - 12v
5=Not Connected
6=Red/White - 12v
7=Yellow/Green - 12v lighting (i.e comes on when lights are on)
8=Black - Earth
The new pioneer unit has connectors for all the above accept no.3 which is blank.
I am at a loss to understand why the SubWoofer isn't working. The front and rear speakers are working OK off the new Pioneer.
I thought I would ask this forum if they had any ideas before I started digging deeper for a solution!
