Hello,

I have a mk2 punto with the old Blaupunkt
Bought a Sony Head, plugged in easily, but my sub doesnt work! I have the standard one in the Punto.

All the leads are in, yet there is a small block that won't go anywhere, tried it in the nd made no difference to the sub anyway, perhaps its some keycode thing, but nether the less it did not require it to create the bass using the built in sub.

Can anyone help hundreds must of had this problem!!!

Thanks,

Ric

I honestly cant remember but i would imagine most people who put in new HU's put a better sub in and get rid of the standard one.
As far as i am aware it gets its signal by a connector that is under the dash. I think there should be a spare connector for the power so i would imagine that you need to connect that to +, - and remote on the Hu.

I did notice another wire, blue i think hanging out the back of the head unit, although i couldn't find a corresponding wire coming from the dashboard stereo wiring,, i think maybe this wire needs to be connected maybe in conjunction with another?

I'll look into it.

Thanks

Trying frantically to remember, but I think a the blue wire out of a non-factory head is the remote lead that would be connected to a non-factory amp if your fitting one.

You mentioned a spare connector block that doesn't seem to go anywhere, sounds like you have come across the same problem as me (see thread "installing non factory head unit"), I'm going to post some pics of said lead tomorrow, hopefully this will lead to helping us both?

HTH

Diamond ^. That would be great and ill update what I've done, but Im pretty sure at least some of the four wires on the 'spare' block of Fiat wires is for the code system as the old factory unit requires it or shows an error message. Perhaps two of these four wires need to be connected to the remaining Sony wiring?

I'll see tommorow when the day time comes around lol.

thanks

Also, I have done some research and found out that there is an amp wire (blue) coming from the Sony head unit. This must be used to power the factory sub (with built in amp).

My question is, where do i connect it to??

is a remote cable ( makes the amp come on with the stereo ) id imagine it would be in the block youve mentioned, on the old HU there should be a wiring diagram of which wire does what, if you cant make sense of it chuck a photo on here and im sure someone will

Ha,

My pet hate is people asking for help then not posting the solution once resolved,

So, I went to my Punto, plugged new HU in, and listened to the sub and heard a slight murmur, so went to the head unit and started playing round with the dials until something happened and the bass switched on, although I had bass up full last time, it wasn't working.

So im prob just a fool.

Thanks people!
