Hi all,

Long time watcher, first time post!!

I've got an 03-plate 1.2 punto eleganza. I'm hoping to install a pioneer head unit / cd changer combo. At the moment I will be keeping the speakers all standard, no plans for anything in that area at the moment (one job at a time LOL).

I'm happy with plumbing in the head and changer, but I want to keep the factory sub in the boot. Having looked in my Haynes book of lies it seems that for signal the sub is spliced into the wiring for the rear speakers. So nothing to worry about at the head end of things? Just wire in the rear speakers as normal and job done there?

With regards to power / signal, am I right in saying that this is the extra plug going into the back of the factory head unit? Is this just a live/earth/remote, hence could I simply splice these 3 wires into the appropriate wires on the loom of my new head unit?

Thanks in advance!!

Mark

Cheers for the info so far guys! (y)

Got the factory head out today, have got 3 plugs. 2 which are the ISO's, great, can just plug these into the ISO's on the pioneer loom.

The 3rd plug is the mystery! It's got 4 wires on it, which I think are coloured:

Cream
Black / Purple
Cream / Black
Cream / Blue

Any thoughts on what these are, I'm hoping they are just extra earth's or signal cables, hence can splice them into the pioneer loom somewhere?

Cheers again!

Mark

I'll take some pics in daylight tomorrow. Was getting dark by the time I had got the old facia's off and filed down the machining imperfections in the din slot to allow the new cage to fit!

LOL, I am from Kent, and I used to be a climbing instructor (until I buggered my back up!). It's a forum name I've used for some time, so have carried on using it!

In the attached pics the plug I'm unsure of is the yellow/green/blue plug.

In response to the plug, that is normally the RCA out plug for Blaupunkt units. Let me have a think where i can find the diagrams. But the 4 wires is confusing as it takes its signal from the rear speakers. Those 4 wires coulours would suggest that they have something to do with High level signal.
If it had anything to do with power there would only be three. +, - and remote.

I did read in the other thread that this wire was not needed.

on the factory HU is there a wiring diagram

Thanks for all the replies guys!

Had a look on the factory head, the diagram label was a little distorted, but it looks like the off plug is for telephone attachment? Which I dont have so no biggy!

Took a punt, plugged my pioneer in, everything works fine (including factory sub)! And thanks to the brilliant sound processor in the pioneer everything sounds sooooo much better now!
