hello, can any1 help me please? i just bought a new punto and the blaupunkt radio is saying CHECK?
does this mean the stereo is finished?
id like to try and fix this myself without having to pay, can this be done?
if i can fix this i expect i will also need to enter a code which i dont have, so if any could help me with these 2 problems, i would be very grateful. i will list numbers from side of head unit underneath.

Hi and WELCOME TO THE FORUM

WAIT means that you have entered the code in incorrectly. The number of times you have entered it incorrectly will determine how long you have to wait before it displays CODE again, and THEN you can type in your code.

Technically you should be able to fix it for free, HOWEVER a small donation to the forum is normally suggested.

Hi, Welcome to the FF.

If the display is showing " CHECK " or " CANCHECK ", it means the radio in the car has come from a different car or the CANBUS wires are not plugged into the back of the radio.

What year is the car?

Some radio engineers are able to disable the cancheck function but it's likely to cost about £25 plus postage two ways.

If you buy another original radio, it would need to be a new one or you'll get the same problem. They are designed to be fitted into one car only as a security feature.

ok davren, thanks alot for your help. cheers

I've got a Punto Mia which had cassette head unit in it. It stopped working so I picked up a cheap HIGH CD Player (standard unit) which fits the dash, but I see now I am going to have problems with the Canbus / Cancheck issue.

When I put the ISO connectors in it states "CANCHECK" and can't do anything with it.

I see there are companies that can reset the cancheck and give you a new code so it can be used in another car, but I wonder if once that's done if it will even communicate with the Canbus since it's obviously also from a different model.

I've also seen companies that can disable the cancheck, but I wonder if this means it will then work ok with my car? Will it turn off with the ignition ok?

Appreciate any/all advice, but please don't advise to put a fascia/aftermarket one in, I'll go back to a cassette deck before I do that, I much prefer it to look stock rather than have a decent stereo.

If anyone knows specifically of any company's that can perform this work - preferable in the north of england, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help (y)

The code should be all you need. Copy and paste your post in the code thread which is a sticky at the top of this Forum section. Im sure Davren will be able to help you out :)

Well, just in case anyone has the same problem as me....

I had the cancheck disabled on the HIGH unit at a cost of £20. The radio now works perfectly without needing any codes.

It doesn't turn off with the ignition, but I'm not too bothered about that.

We can generate the codes for a small Donation to the forum. Thats cheaper than £20 and those with ignition feed get to keep it.
I wonder how they "disable" the Can from the HU. I would imagine they remove the Can wire from the HU lol.

i bought a few fiat radios off an internet site and they come up can check
i looked into buying the equipment to clear this can check but at £200 deemed it not worthwhile it looks like you need to clear an eprom so not straight forward as a wire cutting exercise
