In my cinq i have a pioneer flip front head unit powering a kenwood graphic equalizer and 2 kenwood amps, 1 on my rear 6x9s and 1 on 2 12" subs in boot. When i turn the head unit off i get a sound through the 6x9s like something is discharging?? is this normal? do i need better earths on the amps?
any help would be much appreciated.

I'm no expert on ICE, but on normal amps the problem can be the capicator that stores the first charge, it's suppose to wait before sending a signal out to the speakers, it sounds like there's no delay, and therefore that sound occurs.

That maybe the problem, but I wouldn't bank on my advice!!! lol :I

It could be your earths. Try moving your earth point and sand down to the bare metal first.

Alternatively it could be interference between your cables. You should have:
left side of car: power cable
middle of car: RCA and remote wire
right side of car: speaker wire

note: the wires running down the left and right can be swapped for convenience if needed.

If you have any of these cables running together, i.e power running with RCA or any other combo, it could be this why you are getting that sound.

well its not the wires, i got power down left side and kenwood multi leads (includes phono leads and remote)running from equalizer down right side.

I already have fat earth cables but maybe the connection isn't great so that sounds like the next try.

Having the cables together could cause problems, but then I have mine running down the same side of the car and it's all good

i.ve come to the conclusion that its the head unit because even with both amps off the 6x9s off the head unit still do it so i've got some fat earth cable to try a better earth on the head unit.

well i fitted a better earth on the head unit and its still there even without the amps on. i'm well and trully stumped

any other suggestions. its not the amps coz there not in the car at the mo.

If you cant hear any funny noises when the musics on and its only when you turn the head unit off id just leave it...
