Please note the side skirts on Mikes car come from the Brio catalogue & are the same type as the Schumacher edition. The fixings on genuine abarth skirts are 10mm self tapping bolts.

Jacking the car up

First jack the car up to a height where you have easy access to the underside of the sill.

First steps

Take the side skirt & offer it up to the sill & mark accordingly as to where it should fit. Then screw the push clips provided to the skirt using a phillips screwdriver & with the caulking gun spread the bonding sealant along the top of the skirt in the moulded gap.

Attaching the skirt

Offer the skirt up once more & tap the clips onto the sill to hold the skirt fast.

Press the top of the skirt to the car body whilst checking the gap below the door.

Once you have made sure that the door will clear the skirt easily affix the small blocks of wood using heavyduty duct tape in a position where the tape pulls the skirt in to the car body. Wipe off excess bonding sealant with a panel wipe or thinners(if using thinners have a spare cloth to hand as you'll need to wipe off the thinners immediately) & leave to set. Depending on which sealant you use this can take between 3-12 hours.

When set remove the tape & blocks of wood, polish the skirt & any surrounding panels to clean off any residue with a normal wax polish. Stand back & admire.

Doing the other side

Repeat the process on the other side of the car. Be warned this job takes a long time so patience is the key & take your time.

Thanks to Mike for letting me use his car as a guineapig! :D (y)
