Before removing wheels loosen the nuts on the driveshafts (36mm socket) It is necessary to straighten out the tag on the nut.
Jack up the car and chock safely.

Remove driveshafts


Pop the steering ball joint
There is a bolt clamping the suspension ball. Remove that and push the lower arm down and out. A screwdriver in the slot can help.
Remove plastic cover.
Cut strap holding inner boot.
Remove shaft to bench.

Refurbish driveshaft


Remove circlip.
Mark the tripod so it goes back on the same way.
Remove tripod and boots.
Hold the shaft in a vice/clamp and punch down with metal rod and hammer. There is a spring clip holding it on.
Put some grease down the CV hole. Slide shaft into CV joint. Make sure the spring clip sits down into the recess before hitting the shaft with a soft hammer to drive home. IMG_20210414_114705.jpg

Fit inner boot. Tripod and circlip. Clean and re-grease inner joint. IMG_20210414_120625.jpg

Refit shaft

Ensure the end of the CV is kept clean and there is no debris on the hub. This is to ensure no damage occurs to ABS sensor.

Fit inner joint and outer to hub.
Refit suspension joint and steering joint.
Refit Plastic covers
Fit wheel and driveshaft nut. Wait until the wheel is back on the ramp before making sure the driveshaft nut and wheel nuts are tight. Knock the tag with a punch so it can't come loose. IMG_20210414_124739.jpg
