The reason behind some people not having locking caps from what ive heard is that Fiat decided there were going to use a neck with a one way valve in it which obviously means it is very near impossible to steal fuel. Although, as many people have quite rightly said it doesnt stop people putting something in, and this is why now all new grandes come with a locking cap. I dont even no why they bothered with the valve in the first place.

Well i'm now £15.50 worse off having just been to Fiat to buy one. Couldnt see one on ebay and with it being parked outside I couldn't really wait for it to arrive anyway.

But I mean, really! What cheapskates Fiat are! It would probably cost them £5 to fit one as standard. They could even price the cars at £8000 instead of £7995!!! Frankly I can't believe that any motor manufacturer is not fitting locking fuel caps as standard in this day and age.

hi mate, apparently the reason it does not have a locking cap is that is has a anti-syphen feature on it so u cannot get the petrol out even if u tried! cos i was a bit miffed when i got mine, but thats what fiat told me.

Hmmm youre dealer must be more clued up than mine... none of them were aware of that...

Anyway as already discussed it doesnt stop yobs putting stuff in it or nicking the cap.

Hello people.

I'm not sure wether it came as standard or not but I have a locking cap that is attached to the car with a rubber strap. Thing is I can't find anywhere were it attaches to the car while I'm putting fuel in. I have to let the whole thing including my keys dangle against the body. Am I missing something??

Thanks
