Hi there,

Since I had the car, about 4 weeks now, the speaker in the passenger side door has been rattling/vibrating. At first it was only when the radio was turned up quite a bit and when there was a lot of base. I had it at the Fiat dealer on Tuesday this week to get it fixed and at first I thought it's ok. But now it rattles/vibrates in certain frequencies rather than when the volume is up. So even if I have the radio on volume 5 or so and the music hits a certain frequency, usually base type things, then it rattles/vibrates again.

It's quite annoying and I'm now wondering... I was planning on replacing the speakers anyway so should I still bother with Fiat to fix it or should I just get them replaced?

Any suggestions? Oh... and has anyone else had this problem?

Cheers
Thomas

I had a problem with my rear left speaker. It was rattling when there was a lot of base or volume turned up. I assumed that Fiat had put some cheap speakers so I bought a new set of Infinity speakers and had the original replaced.
It turned out that when Fiat installed the speaker they left the cable over the cone instead of under.... and sure they were the cheap kind.

If you have a problem and decide to fix it, i personally think its better to change the speakers all together, since getting to the speakers (in the 3 door model) is pretty complicated, they have to remove rear seats, panels, everything.
You wouldn't want to do that twice, would you?

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I have decided to get them replaced with some decent ones. Went to the car-audio shop this morning and booked the car in for later this month.

Not sure yet what speakers I'm getting but the guy in the shop gave me some ideas... so hopefully that'll sort out the rattling as well (y)

hey, i only just fitted some new door component speakers yesterday. they have made a big difference as the old speakers were pretty naff, definately go for new speakers, component speakers for the front if that is what you are chaging or normal co-axl speakers for the back.

Do you think you could tell us what brand and size of speaker you finally got for the front doors.
Did you replace the 'tweeter' by the door handle?
Did you replace the rear speakers?
Did it cost much to fit or did you do the job yourself?
thanks!

ye i have replaced the tweeter i have screwed it from behind the door panel and looks really good i think il post a pic tomorrow for you all. i fitted them myself but was quoted 50 pound to fit them so thought id do it myself it really wasn't tht hard and they sound great. i bought fusion 16.5cm component speakers with tweeters and cross-overs. i haven yet done the rear speakers as you need to take out the seats so i may just put some 6x9's in my parcel shelf when i have saved up some more money.

Yeah, thanks for the reply. Would love to see some pics too (y)
