Hi, im new to the site, so hello! im a bit of a fiat fan owned two cinqs sportings one red and one blue and got myself a new punto x-box six months ago which is a really good car by the way. Yes we all know Fiat have there little quirks now and again but theres just somethin about them! i took my punto in for her first service and fell in love with the new gp 1.9 sporting so i had to do it, i have ordered one in red, with leather, cruise control and the sub, 6-8 weeks i have been told cant wait!!:D
I was browsing the web as you do, finding out more bits and bobs about the car and came accross this site and it seems pretty good and helpfull with lots of info so i thought i had better join! But i was horrified to see that the waiting time in some cases has been 14 weeks for new cars!! i rang the dealer and gave my concerns and he said there is no reason why it should take any longer than the 6- 8! What seems to be the situation at the moment have some of you guys got your cars in 6-8 weeks or are some of you still waiting!!, and does it seem to be all new gp's or just sportings with extras i have only been waiting nearly 2 weeks and the thought of 14 is horrible!!

I spoke to Fiat UK customer relations yesterday, and was told that dealers should be quoting a 12 week delivery on all factory orders for the GP.

But its worth the wait :D

Youll be extremely lucky and fortunate to get that model and spec it in 6-8 weeks.

Bob in disguise waiting 14 weeks for his red GP sporting 1.9 w/leather, after twice being told by dealers it would arrive on a certian date which of course, it didnt.

Id prepare yourself for a later date personally, but things may have improved by then, although judging by chrisuk and melissas length of ongoing wait, i doubt it has

I ordered mine end of march , in the past 3 weeks I have been told something different each week, this week I have been told its made and it 3 weeks away, its either at the docks or going to the docks not sure , so by the time I get it bout 16 weeks double the time quoted, and that's on priority shipment I can't cope with no car

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I've been reading it for a while now and i finally decided to post something!

I ordered my Sporting 1.4 16v in chemical grey back in April. I am set to pick the beast up next week on Saturday! Can't wait!:) Talk about making you wait for it though! It will have been 10 weeks after ordering! I was told 6-8 like everyone else! Do the dealers just not know or do they lie??

Bit of both I think, they don't always have upto date information but they also don't want to risk you not placing/cancelling your order so tell you its a shorter delivery than it actually is.

"Yes Sir of course you can order a Grande Punto that will be delivered in 3 to 4 months"

All the dealers seem to say 6-8 weeks, an obvious sales technique - I have been waiting for my 1.9 gp for 2 weeks now, just have to wait and see what happens. im not holding my breath for it within that time after what i've read on this forum!

When i ordered my red sporting with leather on the launch weekend in Feb i was told it would be in by the end of march. It actually turned up in May

I spoke to Fiat UK a number of times about it and the head of customer services told me that the dealers have known since the launch weekend that factory orders on the grande punto will be 12 weeks. Personally i think they just say the shorter time to get the sale!

Now i've got the car though, it was all worth it

I ordered a 5 door 1.3 Multijet in crossover black with front fogs and orange and black interior. I was told 13 weeks when I ordered it as the interior and fogs were only available direct from the factory. It actually only took 8 weeks in the end so there is hope if your order is just lucky enough to hit the facory at the right time.

Cheers guys i guess i shall have to prepare myself for the wait, sounds like your all pretty hacked off, shame really cause it will put alot of people off buying one! I have driven the demonstraor so i know its worth it just annoys me when the dealers must blaitently know its gonna be longer and fobbing off their new customers, doesnt do them any favours really!!

oh well i guess i had better get over it!!(n)

I was also quoted 6-8 weeks but expected it to be longer after reading of the experiences of other forum members.

After 5 and a half weeks I hadn't heard anything from the dealer so I thought I'd call round for an update. To my amazement the car (1.9 Sporting) was there, having arrived that morning and was in my hands less than a week later!

a had to wait a month for mine i orderd mine at the start of fed and got it the last week in march

I have been told my 1.9 diesel sporting ordered 3rd June will be ready for August.

The wait is over picking her up today!!! cant wait:)
the dealer told me right!(y)

I ordered abt 15 April and 20 June was here....despite the many extras,...(leather seats, Bleu&Me, Skydome, Sub, Clima...etc...:slayer:

Dealers shoud be advising an approximate delivery time of 12 weeks. But be aware that in Italy the Fiat and Alfa factory is closed for 99% of August for their holiday period as well.
