Hi all,
I'm once again calling upon the FIAT gods of this forum to see if anyone has any advice regarding a starting problem. Car is a '07 Grande Punto 1.9D Multijet. I have had a look around other posts for starting problems but they seem to differ slightly from my problem.
The problem is a bit of a strange one. On a cold start, the car will normally start fine after the glow plugs have been cycled twice. It will continue to start with no problems hereafter, with any engine temperature. However, if I then allow the engine cool down fully (to the point where the temperature gauge is all the way down) the car will refuse to start, until a sufficient amount of time has passed (normally about 5-6 hours, but will need to get an exact timeframe).
After reading some posts I disconnected the MAF sensor to no avail, then proceeded to remove it and clean it with 10k boost, which made no difference. I also checked the earth which seemed fine and cleaned that up too for good measure. Also the OBD scanner shows no fault codes.
I have a suspicion that the thermostat could be potentially faulty, maybe reporting the wrong temp to the ECU which is then not engaging the glow plugs a sufficient amount of time?
Thanks,
Matt
