On Grande Punto 1.3 as above when acceleration round 1,300rpm start to rattle and ever more when go 3,000 rpm but at idle is silent no noise. I am not sure if it timing chain as I thought it was suppose to be longlife than the rubber belt? the car is on 132,000 miles, is the rattle from auxiliary drive belt tension? the water pump is new I have never had chain timing before so this is the first time and newer to me!

If it is timing chain would it recommend to buy a timing lock as I saw on Youtube but some foreign don't used it because if I buy the timing tool probably never use it again in the future any idea?

Sounds like chain slapping around to me, seen guides worn that much they have dropped down, mostly due to lack of servicing as tensioner and chain rely on clean oil to operate and lubricate, remove the rectangle section held on by 4 bolts on the timing cover (either below or behind engine mount) then you can feel the chain tension

It is the drive belt tensioner bearing few balls is missing that is what cause the rattles.

Aye , too little information, I take it's a diesel, at a guess as suggested it could be the chain, over time the guides wear down. These engines like clean oil for the chain. I had similar engine & changed the oil & filter every six months, it did rattle a bit but over 150000 on the clock & would've been still going strong but for circumstances.
