If you can find a coolant temp sensor with the same thread as the sump plug, it may be possible to fit one there and set up a gauge. Real old school.

My Fabia has an oil temp reading.
Coolant got to normal, 90 on the gauge, after arouond 5 mins today. Oil temp took another 5 mins to reach 80, then about the same again to creep up to its 'normal' 95-97.

I love the idea of hacking a coolant sensor in the oil sump but it's not that high on the priority list;). Might want to add an oil pressure sensor though since I am really missing that one.
 
Is there a specific type of thermostat that should be put on the grande punto 1.2?
 
Already installed the new one ? Problem with fluctuating temperature (and gauge) fixed ?

All seems good haven't seen the guage drop once but then again we are in an incredible unseasonable heatwave in london :p
