Hm,
The yellow adaptor connects pin 6 to 1 and 14 to 9 thats CAN Hi and Lo. It also connects thr Kline from 7 to 12 and Gnd / 12V straight through.
Do you have a connection missing from your adaptor?

Yes I get that from the suppliers data.
So am I right thinking pins 6 & 14 from the Elm (can) go to the vehciles pins 1 & 9?

In the yellow adaptor, pins 1 & 9 are re-routed (replacing) as pins 6 & 14.
Pins 1 & 9 are not used by OBD protocol so are left open to manufacturer discretion for anything they want ...
