Hi,
I have brought an aftermarket stereo and can’t get it to turn on, I understand there is some kind of ignition switch I need to wire possibly from the cigarette lighter.

I don’t currently have a harness and don’t know what one to buy? I have attached pictures of the current wiring and the new one required can I get away with wiring an ignition wire to the current wiring and just just plugging that into the stereo or what do I need to do??

First, look at wiring diagram on radio box or instructions. Usually only need black(earth) constant live and ignition live, (live only with ignition on) the car radio loom Will have earth(black wire) and ignition live. Two options....easy option, join red and yellow wires together on new radio loom plug. (cut red and join to yellow or vice versa) and join those two wires to the ignition live on car loom. (At plug,so they match up with car loom) Radio will work but only when ignition is on, but may loose pre set stations and reset clock display, every time you turn key off, very annoying. Or find a constant live from interior light switch,to feed the needed constant live at your radio. But you must check wiring diagram for that radio! Hope this helps.

I was having the same problem i ran a cable from my lighter socket to the switched live and all working well, just having issues with fitting a sub now (my opinion is don't bother lol)
