Afternoon,

I seem to have a problem with my '08 1.2 GP Gearbox.

I have trouble getting the car in to reverse, and find myself having to double-clutch to get it in most times.

The gearbox also appears incredibly muddy at times - and it is difficult to put it in to 1st gear. It also doesnt seem to 'spring-back' in to Neutral as it once did either.

Getting 5th gear is especially tricky, and there are many occasions where it has just gone in to 3rd as I cant get 5th gear at all.

The other strange thing is at times it can be worse than others - especially when its cold.

I was thinking it could be the cables, or the clutch or the gearbox itself. Has anybody any idea of how I would go about testing these? Cables seem to be especially expensive to fix.

Crunching going in to gear is due to clutch not disengaging properly, most likely due to clutch needs bleeding.not going in to fifth is due to linkage needs adjusting in engine bay,if it went faulty after you have had work done, other wise it may be due to excess movement in one of your mountings. Press adjuster down, place gear lever in middle position in cab, then release adjuster.

I have recently had my gearbox bearings done at a place in Halifax that specialises in M32 boxes ( ie the 6 speeds) but I am sure he can do any gearbox. May be worth a phone call. Andy is a good guy and his prices are very reasonable. Its A&S Clutch Technology.

This is the weirdest thing.

Everything now works fully. No grinding, no trouble getting it in gear, nothing.

I think it was the cold. Literally did nothing and its now fine. Im gonna keep an eye on it and see how I get on.
