Lights on my punto are behaving very strangely - tail light out but lights up when braking, brake light not working when tail light does, tail light flashing instead of indicator etc etc.

Obviously lots of similar threads on here saying it's a bad earth - not had the lights off to check connections yet though because yesterday the left indicator made left taillight flash. Today, left indicator makes right taillight flash. So as it's affecting both light clusters I presume it must be a bad connection elsewhere? So is it worth me faffing with taking the lights off myself or should I just take it to someone who knows what they're doing :D

Had this problem on two different cars, take off nsr light cluster, only two screws and check connection. Often wet in there and corroded due to leakage from rear screen wash pipe. You should also check all earth connections as mentioned above.

No bulbs changed at all recently. Haven't used the rear washer for 2 years precisely because it leaks hehe but sure that's not the only way water can sneak in there.

Had read the other threads but because both sides are affected (lhs indicator flashing tail on rhs) I wasn't sure if it would be local to the light clusters. But I'll have a poke around for anything obvious :)

I'd definitely be checking connections on rear lights and earth for rear lights then.
