I've noticed when slowing down to turn left with indicators on, a warning light comes on and a message saying that the brake light isn't working. I haven't been able to check the lights. Probably just coincidence that I have only noticed it while turning left at a junction, I would assume the same would happen when turning right.

An suggestions on what might be the issue?

First check which one has the problem L/R and if it's only happening with indicators on.
Then remove it and check for corrosion on the contacts burned wires etc

Does it give an exact error, it's not something simple like a blown bulb is it?

Usually the light cluster board at the back inside the boot lense, take both sides out and clean everything, it'll be arching out.

Still have this issue but I haven't really investigated further. When i get the warning light it says there is a problem with the stop lights. It was hard to test at first because whenever I would get someone out to check the lights, the warning light wouldn't come up and there would be no fault.

Finally I got the chance to check them with the warning light on and it turns out the N/S brake light doesn't work, but only when my main lights are on and even then it works intermittently.

Any suggestions?

Thanks guys

Remove the bulb and check the contacts.

Hi, I have the same issue with my 56 plate gp, it seems to happen when I brake for a period of time (5secs or more) intermittently. (Lights on or off)

I managed to find a place to check my brake lights the 3rd time it happened, mine is the n/s lights as well, the warning only lasts for a few minutes then disappears again. But this morning my n/s rear indicator and stop light stopped working at the same time (for around 30secs). Before disappearing again. The tail lights still work, so I'm guessing it's just a connection issue (Earth) with the stop/indicators. ?

Okaaaaay.... today I changed the bulb and checked connections. They all looked good, no oxidation but I still have the problem.

Any ideas what to do next? Should I just take it to a garage?

Probably would be best! If the fault isn't at the cluster, it could be anywhere, when your warning comes up does your car do this when indicating left?

It doesn't do that, thankfully. It started of happening only occasionally and probably coincidently when I was turning left. It now comes on frequently, not triggered by the indicator but only when tail lights are on..
