Hi folks - first time poster here!
I have had the red airbag warning light on for some time - the ECU has been reset before (clearing apparent crash data) - but has since come back on. My MOT is now due, and this causes a fail.
Local garage have removed the airbag ECU with a view to me getting it reset again, but they couldn't get any diagnostic info from it - and the airbag reset company said if that was the case he wouldn't be able to sort it.
I'm trying to find out if I can swap the ECU with one bought on eBay - same model number, details etc?
Or if anyone knows of any other fixes?
Thanks for any help!

OK - so I managed to get a friend to plug in his snap-on diagnostic thingy and we managed to clear the error codes - and the light went out! Perfect! However - within 12 hours had come back on! The error code was B0107 - Passenger seatbelt pretensioner. I need the light to be off to get through the MOT (due tomorrow!) - so I am going to try and get the garage to just reset it again, get the MOT sorted - then try and fix the problem.

Anyone know if this error code can be cleared if I was to get the cables and software to plug in myself? Or can this only be done via snap-on?

Any suggestions?

Once the seatbelt pretensioner fired, you have to replace it.

If you never had an accident that could trigger pretensioner, check cables.

You can also check resistance if you use multiECUscan.net program (with the correct cable adapter you can access airbag module via obd)

If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't touch airbag cables/software.
safety tip: every time you work on airbag modules/cables remove battery terminal.

Thanks - I've not had a bump in the car - but think this was an issue inherited on purchase. Have managed to get through the MOT - so will now be able to investigate further.

Will get a set of cables and look at the pre-tensioner - think there could be wiring issue under passenger seat.

Pretentioners on these are in the (b) door pillar

Could simply be it's become faulty after a bump, failed to fire and now throwing up errors every now and again

Hi can anyone tell me where the airbag ? pretensioner ECU unit is located
please.
Thanks Eric Clarke
