Have you driven a 130bhp diesel?

Anyway a remap would easily up the power

i'm sure its a great engine, a good package and all very new tech and good for the environment, etc, etc, yawn and snooze. but.....lets face it what you really want is to rip the smile of the clio/206/c3 brigade, knock on the door of the next class up. 130bhp, polite applause, yes i've driven diesels (i have to every day and the astra one is not bad) but do i wantone.....no

Well they might have done it deliberately to appeal to younger drivers who want the cheapest way possible (in terms of insurance/running costs) to get a quick car. You're 30odd??? :p :D - so can afford to run the more powerful versions and thats fine! So wait for the 1.6 Turbo Abarth, if it gets realeased that is.

Never mind 130bhp, what about the rumoured 150bhp Abarth Turbo Diesel?
Test drove Croma with this engine and was impressed, would really make Punto Grande a flyer! tuning box up to around 175/180 bhp and all that torque, love the red one looks the dogs in my humble opinion

ill have the red one lowerd with a carbon fibre bonnet pls!!! would carry on the theme from the roof lol xxx
Actually, that might be the only time a carbon fibre bonnet looks good, ever

I want one, in that blue or the red

is it me or does the back of the red punto look very much the same as the old ford focus ,

yeah it could just be you ;-)

joking aside it looks fab, from what i've seen of it so far theres nothing about i don't love, it may have taken Fiat an age to finally start designing cars with passion again but hey better late than never. Although i drive a 2001 Punto, i think this new version is the true successor to the much loved Mk1.

Roll on next February when we can finally get to test drive it!

WELCOME BACK FIAT!

FAB, FAB, FAB.....looks stunning

I read in Auto Express that the Abarth is most likely to use a 1.6 F.I.R.E unit twin turbocahrged it will push either 180 or 220 BHP, apparently Fiat have yet to decide on what output they'll go to market with. Hopefully 220 BHP!

Personally, I should imagine an Abarth diesel will have at least 150 BHP from the Fiat/Alfa 1.9.

It realy sucks that only the 1.9 Multijet 16V 130BHP can be bought with the Sport pack AND you could only get that sexy red color with the SPORT version :bang:

Stupid question that has most likely been asked before but does any one know when it's due to be released??

LHD now. RHD should be a few months, so early next year being realistic. I think I read on Italiaspeed that the workers are coming back to the factory in stages to learn how to build the Grand Punto. So they can be trained in smaller groups to make the cars better. So hopefully they'll all be good quality. It does mean production ramps up slower so there could easily be a backlog of orders (meaning no dealer discount), and delaying the RHD production.

Been thinking about this car today, love the looks but....

Why bigger than the current car? Rover did this with the 96 Rover 200, made a small/big car and it flopped. Also it starts at 11,100 euros which I guess will mean £7995 here for a Punto Active with a 1.2 65bhp engine!!!! Can you imagine how gutless that will be!?!? The current Punto 8v is slow and this ones bigger, a granny car in the making. They should give up that engine now and start at 1.4 for £7995 and it may be better value. Im not sure yet if it will be the success they hope for... trouble is when the current Punto goes there will be no proper sized supermini in the range.
