Tried last night to stop the clutch pedal squeak by lubricating all the obvious parts of the mechanism without success. So today I got more serious (see pictures attached). It comes from much higher up and the best way is to remove the heater duct. This is held in by one Torx T20 screw.
Once out of the way you can hold a torch and feel the pedal as you press it. This revealed a vibration from the pivot point which is hidden up inside a white casing. Note, It's not the coiled spring causing the problem. Now you can squirt spray white grease up on to the pivot. A few presses of the pedal gets it spread nicely and the noise disappears after about 10 operations.
Driving it afterwards is a revelation. I hadn't realised that the pedal was sticking as it generated the noise. Now it's a smooth operation and better to drive!
