Hi all,

A couple of months ago my fan started being a bit temperamental. It would push out half of what itdid when i got it. I put it down to the alternator being old, so replaced it - which worked for a while.

The past few days its not worked at all. Ive checked the power source from;

> the battery to the fan speed selector unit (on the dash board, just below the radio). Thats fine.
> power from fan speed selector unit to the resistor unit, all good.
> Power to from resistor to the cables which plug into the fan, perfect.

All are receiving the 12-14volts that they should be.

Does anyone know of any other problems that might cause the fan to not work? I think the next stage is to replace the fan, but i have no idea how to do that, cant find any guides on how to do this.

Thanks

Liam

The fan is pretty easy to get to.
Under the glove box remove a plastic air vent pipe (1 screw)
The fan is held in with 3 screws.
Refitting is a bit awkward as youre working upside down

Cheers, just done that quickly now. Turns out the battery is totally broken. Popped to the local fiat garage, £110 for a new one, not bad for an official part. A mate had the same problem and it cost him £800!!

For anyone reading this with the same problem, I'll post a 'How To' on how to check & replace the unit. Lots of people have been ripping out dash boards & all sorts of unnecessary things
