Hey guys! I got a really odd problem with my 1.3 Multijet.

Most of the time my Punto will start just fine. But at some rare times when I want to start the car and put the key into the ignition the immobiliser symbol just won't disappear and so the car won't start. No rattle, no cranking just plain silence when turning the key.
I usually wait a few minutes and try again. Sometimes it takes hours until the immobiliser deactivates and I can start the engine.

I already checked both keys and the earthing from engine block to the battery and so on. There has never been a change of ECU in the car or anything like that.
The battery is fine too with about 12,6 Volts. There's no humidity in the fuse box near the engine and neither in the fuse compartment close to the steering wheel.

I only got the car in November so don't expect too much knowledge about it yet.

Anyway… does anyone have any thoughts why this is happening and how I could fix it?

Do gp's have an immobiliser pick up aerial around the key barrel? An old Peugeot I owned had a similar fault to yours.

Yup it got some kind of coil picking up the key's signal.
Did you sinply replace the pick up aerial?

Is there some way i can check that aerial? If it is the problem it could be an easy and cheap fix
