hi all, i today changed the lock on the boot of my 06 grande punto, the boot is locking perfectly now but the door open signal on the dash is saying its still open, any way i can reset this, any sugguestions on how to fix this, thanks mike

Mike,

when you open the tail gate, have a look for a little nipple protruding from it at the bottom near to the centre/lock. If I'm not mistaken, that's the open/close switch. This is ofcourse electrical so will have wires running into it, and if you are comfortable with electrics, you can check this is operating as required.

If not, I suggest you get a professional to have a look.

I am of course assuming that's where your issue is because you specifically mention the boot area.

Good Luck

George

I have a similar problem.
I've changed the lock mechanism and it's still telling me my boot is open. I've checked wiring but theres no damaged cables I can see.

The open/close signal comes directly from the boot lock mechanism. With the boot open, i can deactivate mine by using a screwdriver to simulate the boot catch being engaged into the lock. I'd have a look at the wiring connection and the boot lock mech itself if I were you.

Are you sure it's set correctly? Check if the door can physically wiggle around when it's supposed to be closed.

Even with the new boot lock mechanism on the boot is shut, it's not rattling it is shut shut no space to wriggle. Someone has mentioned that the CPU will have a recorded message on it and that I need it hooking up to a computer to get it wiped off... any ideas on that? It doesn't sound right for a Punto.

I have a 58 reg Grande Punto GP
