Hi,

Just been out in my 1.3 Mjet 75bhp. Going up a steep hill in 3rd and there was a loss in power for a split second, then it came back straight away, under 1/2 second. At the same time it beeped, like it does when got below 30 miles of diesel left, and flashed 'check engine' with the engine light illuminated. I pulled over, restarted it, warning was again given, drove it 15 miles with it running as normal, no loss of power etc. High revs, low revs, all seems ok?!

Any ideas? I immediately thought turbo as it was in that rev range that the power loss happened but I've had a listen and I can hear the turbo spooling (whistling quietly) as it does, normally.

NB Battery is on it's last legs I think, not sure if that makes a difference.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

I'm experiencing the same, happens every few minutes. The temperature gauge also maxes out at the same time.

Did you figure out what was the issue?

Search the forum before posting such questions. Dozens of topics like that.

This is a common problem in Grande. Electrical problem (power supply - bad battery or alternator, main ground/earthing corroded, fuse box wet/rotten, bad wires/plugs, bad sensors, bad ignition switch etc.). And ECU failure (or Body Computer) happens, but it is rare (worst case scenario).

Why? I say 50/50% (who's fault this is) - manufacturer did poor job (moisture attacks electronics), but clueless (lazy) owners neglect these cars for years (until it refuses to start, cuts off and so on). No preventive maintenance whatsoever.
What's your story (car history)?

Yes, he did pseudo "search" and posted a question in the topic with no answers... Good move.
Tell me.
What's the purpose of the forum?
Answering the same questions over and over again?
Nope.
People confuse forums with "search engines" (like Google). Two different types of websites/services.
So they throw a questions (or problem descriptions), very laconic ones. And wait for the answer. While answer is "out there". So they waste time (and server space).

PS
I will still help. I gave him an answer. Good one.
And you are not helping (moderators -> erase his post).
Do some math pal. Your posts and thanks: 10204/465≈22.
Mine: 193/38≈5. So, I'm about 4 times more helpful than you!

Already replied THIS on the other post from Bittered... :

Honestly I don't think You'd ever receive any reply from 2012 and 2015 posts ...

Andy was giving the correct direction (IMO): check for ECU power supply AND grounding, also time to check the main grounding from battery to chassis to gearbox. And don't trust a visual inspection only: it needs to be checked the right way !!

Normaly, the battery ground clamp has spare bolts on it: you can use it to connect an heavy gage wire and connect the other side to a good chassis ground, i.e. where there are already grounds connected, like for the front lights. Once connected, see if the problem is gone... Be aware though this is a TEMPORARY setup only for troubleshooting purpose !!!

BRs, Bernie

If someone here helped You fix -or better, understand- your issue, hit the thanks icon @ bottom right corner, it's free and makes us feel helpy ;-)

I try not to react to certain posts, whose tone appears adversarial or condescending..However sometimes it can become a pissing contest that really has no place on a forum,of any kind.
For what its worth, imho, forums exist as a way of sharing information, helping like minded people to solve any reasonable questions. Either directly or by referencing other places etc.
This can be best achieved, again imho, by people being polite and friendly...Im no snowflake and at 57 I kinda know who and what I am...so can we please leave the insults and posturing where it belongs.

Nope.

Do you understand how a forum works? Like any website it thrives on the activity of the users it is very costly to host this forum it’s been around a long time, you could therefore argue that every question someone could ask has been answered therefore there is absolutely no point in anyone asking any questions, so no one posts anything and the forum dies. No more people or activity means massively reduced activity and massively reduced advertising revenue.

Some of the funding from this comes from donations, the donations come from people who are happy to contribute because they have been helped, and feel included. usually berating people for not doing a search, or ranting they have wasted time doesn’t help people and so they are far less likely to donate, and then they decide the forum is an unfriendly place (which you make it) and they don’t come back.

There is also a social aspect to this forum where people discuss all sorts of stuff discuss things and generally enjoy using the forum makes them feel included and therefore more likely to get involved, donate, also donate time or organise events.

So the number of “thanks” is irrelevant if that’s how you track your life then you need to take a look at your life, it’s also a sign you have a problem with social media and a need for validation, but you can go look that up. You like to accuse people of being “snowflakes” which is hilarious, because look how you behave if someone questions you and your ability to stay calm, it’s like you’re permanently on the edge of a nervous breakdown if someone so much as asks something on the forum. It’s not your forum, you don’t pay the bills, I also suspect your not the information police so what does it matter to you is someone asks a question, if you don’t like it don’t answer it. So as asked, what’s your story?

You’re clearly not hear to ask questions your self and you’re not here to get involved in the friendly banter/social side of things, you don’t like it if anyone asks a question... so what are you here for? Make your self feel big? The fact you instantly jumped to comparing the number of thanks suggests all you want is praise?

Cannot agree more :)

Many a time I see 'newbies' asking fundamental questions..

And I then think..

If you laid out a 'flow chart'(?)

Of:

A. It is cranking the engine..

B. You hear a clicking noise..nothing else

For A.. see this thread

For B.. see this GUIDE

AS AN EXAMPLE

Then of course people read it.. follow the path ..fix the issue

You are unaware they have even looked.. And you recieve zero feedback for updates :(

As you say ..less and less like a forum
