Off Topic Next Car?

You would be surprised what named drivers do. Mabye your named driver is making it expensive? Try an older female family friend, or even two of them. You never know when they might need to drive your car (y)

Same Audi quote with no named drivers, I have my dad and a female family friend on mine.

yeah it might bring it down a bit, but look at your quote for that audii! its the same as fully comp for my bloody punto lol.

I usually use Confused.com, got this years insurance on my car (1.2 8v gp) for £1300, 19 YO with no NCD and 1 years driving exp :D

Im sure when I checked a 59 Reg T-jet GP about 2 weeks ago it was giving me £1400 Fully comp with all the trimmings :s but thats parked on a secure drive with locked gates. Reasonably rural area

I got a Quote for a BMW 318 (2007 Reg - £8000) - 2.0 Turbo Diesel for £938 Fully Comp, I'm 21 with 3 Years NCB - paying a tad under £700 for my Grande Punto

This is roughly the theme for me too. 23, 3 years NCB, paying £451 (protected NCB) fully comp for my GP, but could get insured on a lot of vastly powerful cars for there or thereabouts.

Age is the killer man, irrespective of what car you own.

There's obviously something different about your circumstances / risk. Have you tried our forum providers? Chris Knott seems to be the best, they may even be able to tell you what factor is causing it.

Yeah I tried them first mate. They declined me fully comp, he even had a long word with his manager only to deliver more apologies. I could understand if i'd caused death by dangerous driving or something

What's the first part of your postcode?

I moved from OL7 to SK14 and it dropped my premium by £1000.

I'm 21 with 2 years NCB and 3 years license.

I paid in full and I think it was about £1200 this was on 1.4 8v, adding on the t-jet is another £100 so still high!

I took my dad OFF the policy and this reduced it too. The insurance algorithm is too complex but age, location and car are prime factors.

My postcode is no worse than some on here, s66, grade C.

Too right the insurance calculations are crazy and the above factors are crucial, but when you consider my quotes have been coming out at up to 7k more than most, and having been declined by multiple companies, it really does seem there is something else there.

Two of my close mates also live in s66, same age, same driving experience, one owns a golf gti whilst the other owns a suzuki swift sport - both pay less than £1500 fully comp :(

I pay a fortune too, it was the cheapest quote I could find, 1st year driving so no experience etc, nothing out of the ordinary really, £3000 -_- For a Punto? No mods no nothing. My postcode is a B rating too so its not that, but never mind I just hope its cheaper next year!

Wut. How much do you pay now?

£1500 third party with adrian flux. In april this year (when it was due) i rang nearly every company I could think of for that price. Including the less known ones such as Chris Knott etc. Its crazy mate.

Admiral wanted £2800, for example. Although that price has now fallen to £1900 on my last quote (no mods).

some others lol, both on his gti

What? Oh yeah, who cares about him, he bought his tjet on page 5 LOL.

Anyway to give you an idea of why insurance is so dear; I work for a PI lawyer firm (as IT). The car insurance market is absolutely bloody massive. It is 2/3 of the company's entire income (and that's a lot of income). The european rules pretty much insurers don't have a leg to stand on. They also hardly ever spot fraudulent claims.

For example; if you are hit by a car STOLEN by a drunk thief, the person who owns the car, provided it was initially insured by the owner, their insurance company will have to pay out any compensation. It's absolutely barmy.

So yes, that is one of the reasons your insurance is high.
