Hi,

My boot wont open. I press the button on the key the lights just flash and I press the button in the car and i hear a clicking noise. Can anyone help?

Possibly frozen if its frosty

its not frosty but hopefully the lock will fix itself, its still under warranty though so if it needs fixed it should get done for nothing hopefully

Needs a new catch/lock

how much do you think the new catch/lock will cost?

10 min job to swap.....


open boot

remove screw from trim pull to close handle

grip trim firmly near glass and pull hard

un pop all the clips taking care near boot catch (where its thin and not very strong)

once released put boot trim to one side (perhapse need pliars to remove any stubborn trim pegs that have come away and stuck in the boot)

next unplug (small plug on catch needing locking catch pressing in to release)

next remove 2x m6 10mm (across flat) bolts

and remove catch


refit in reverse order

the boot lock contains an electronic circuit board that shorts out when water gets to it through the tailgate (a known fault)...a new one should cost about £20 from fiat ( i was surprised that fiat were cheaper than ebay)...before fitting the new one fill it with vaseline or similar to protect it from water getting in....

Or cure the water leak!
