Hi all,

My Mum has a punto grande and it is loosing oil, she tops it up and then not long later its gone.

The oil must be being burnt as there is no patches on the floor where oil would leak.

Its a 56 reg 1.4 sporting (orange one) its done 57k

can anyone recommend or advise what it could be, potential cost to fix and recommended place to take it near Norwich (NR18)

Many thanks in advance, my mum is really worrying about this.

Thanks
Elliot

hi
will start with basics ,are you 100% sure there isn't any oil leaks ?.if so get your mum to go for a drive..follow her in another car and look at the exhaust for blue coloured smoke ,which would indicate that the engine is burning oil .wether it's valve stem oil seals or piston rings ,i wouldn't know without seeing the car ..i have a 06 1.4 sporting ,roughly same milage with no oil issues ,so can't see it being an age /milage related issue

Hi sounds stupid but last time it was serviced was the correct oil used and have you been using the correct top up oil? if the wrong grade oil is being used the engine can use it up "quicker" than the intended type.

A garage has had a look at it and believe it too be the breathers? (what ever they are)

Could this be true, it was only a 5 minute check...

Ill have a look, im not very techinical when it comes to mechanics, give me a computer on the other hand :)

If i got a garage to do it where would be the best place to take it and how much would i expect to pay?

Thanks
