Technical Loose Rear Wiper Connection

Please direct me to the correct forum if this has already been answered.

My rear wiper on my 2007 Grande Punto works very intermittently. I've found that wiggling the connecting wire when the boot is open will work but, other than fixing this wire in a certain position with some duct tape, is there another way to fix this?

The wires often fail at the tailgate hinge area, removing panels and getting enough slack in the loom to put in a repair section of suitably flexible wire and correctly insulating it,if able can replace the bad section, failing that an Auto electrician may be required.
