Re: Software update...excess radiation

wasn't a Fiat dealership was it, evans halshaw dont have any from memory so they would need to sub contract it to a fiat dealer hence the fee to pay.

LMAO, no it doesn't (why does everyone assume this?)

It's "Excess Radiat. Temperature"... as in Excess Radiator Temperature.

Anyway, like T said- some ECU's have a software update available ('s), but some cannot be updated, and those have to be replaced with a unit which has the corrected software ('s).

The fault is due to the voltage drop during starting, so low battery voltage makes the issue worse.

S*** yeah it does haha!

And no it was a ford dealership, so they are having to pay the FIAT workshop which is just around the corner

Anyone think it maybe worth getting my battery checked prior to it going in for fixing?

Re: Software update...excess radiation

Danny and T14 are right.

Evans Halshaw are LEGALLY required to fix this car. It's part of your rights as a customer having bought a vehicle from a member of the motor trade. Had you bought it privately then it would have been 'Buyer Beware'. As its motor trade then it's 'Seller Beware'

Don't get fobbed off with Mechanical Warranty Insurance not covering it... EH HAVE to sort it, if it goes wrong within 90 days of purchase. Legal protection for the consumer. The Mechanical Warranty is additional to this.

Take the car back. Give them the keys and demand they sort it. You bought the car from them, so they can arrange the diagnostic costs and new parts. Why should you have to do the running around? Make that dealer spend some of their profit on getting the car right.

Re: Software update...excess radiation

If it's on start-up, a new temp sensor won't fix it as it's not the cause of the fault. Read the thread.

Why not? If it is a faulty sensor?

Re: Software update...excess radiation

It's faulty software in the ECU getting confused by low system voltage during cranking. There are no errors in the ECU.

Is the software update only covered by current warranty?

Yes, which is pretty crap really as you don't have to pay for updates for your PC or mobile phone etc so I believe updates should be free for your 10-15k car!
