Danny and T14 are right.

Evans Halshaw are LEGALLY required to fix this car. It's part of your rights as a customer having bought a vehicle from a member of the motor trade. Had you bought it privately then it would have been 'Buyer Beware'. As its motor trade then it's 'Seller Beware'

Don't get fobbed off with Mechanical Warranty Insurance not covering it... EH HAVE to sort it, if it goes wrong within 90 days of purchase. Legal protection for the consumer. The Mechanical Warranty is additional to this.

Take the car back. Give them the keys and demand they sort it. You bought the car from them, so they can arrange the diagnostic costs and new parts. Why should you have to do the running around? Make that dealer spend some of their profit on getting the car right.

If it's on start-up, a new temp sensor won't fix it as it's not the cause of the fault. Read the thread.

It's faulty software in the ECU getting confused by low system voltage during cranking. There are no errors in the ECU.

.
I've updated the ECU but the problem is still there...

only applies to petrol engines not diesel however there is another update that applies to the 1.9 engine that can help.Has dealer done all updates and also are they running latest software with latest updates?

I'm also sure they are duty bound to fix it under the sale of goods act 1984, if some thing is not of merchantable quality or not fit for the purpose for which you bought it,ie it's faulty, they can either give you a full refund or fix it to your satisfaction. your contract is with the garage you bought it from.
