i have tried to change my rear break pads and sics and the caliper wont go back on because of the piston is out, do i turn it clockwise or anti-clock wise for the piston to go back in?
If you turn it the wrong way it will wind out further so just turn it and see what happens, I just did mine and they were a git to do and I was using a pair of snipe nose pliers.
If they are wound out smear some copper slip around it to prior to winding back in, hopefully that will free them up a bit and prevent them from locking up in future!
Clockwise on the right rear.
Anti - clockwise on the left rear.
I would say buy the tool - it is a pig to do otherwise. I managed it only because i had a similar tool that i modified to use and it was still hard to do.

Copaslip is not rubber safe and it shouldn't be used anywhere near a modern braking system. When copaslip comes into contact with rubber the copper fillings it contains will cause the rubber to swell and deform. Ruining the caliper piston seals in the process.
