My 1.9 s2 sporting is returning under 30 mpg round town driven gently.
I have changed the filter and cleaned the egr to no efect, the car drives
perfectly with no other aparent faults . Could the air flow meter be at falt.?

Dis-connect it and see if it does?? Cold and town driving is going to make it low. I was getting 33mpg out of a fabia 1.4 tdi yesterday, yet my 1.9 mjet is doing 46mpg atm.

i get low thirties around town, however yours does seem v low.

have to checked the tyres? mine were on 32 psi, i inflated to 38 (as per handbook) and im getting better consumption, probably around 36-38 round town at quiet times...

does the smoke from the exhaust look normal? if your lambda sensor is nackerd, you could be running too rich.
