Technical Headlight Clip!

Technical Headlight Clip!

only thing i can suggest to check it is to get a small digital camera and take a few photos of the hole and see if you can see if the hook is broken

ulitmately if you still cant get it you might be better off removing the headlamp unit then doing it

but some people can do it by feel its just down to practice and a bit of care you do have the bulb seated properly dont you? as if not the clip will not go on

Working for Halfords I have fitted a fair few of these, the clips can be quite tight on these. Is the bulb in correctly and 100% flush, this would stop the clip closing fully. If this seems to be happening, try to close the clip with the bulb out.

The clip is a hook style design, if you can try forcing it back and slightly to your left it might catch the clip. Only other problem may be that you have snapped the hook catch on the holder, or possibly crushed it by applying way too much force.

Failing that, you know where I stay Vance, if you fancy a long return trip. Your local Halfords or garage should be able to sort this for you.

I've more than likely mangled the clip, luckily I still have the standard headlights in my loft, so could swap the clip and that's a long trek for a bulb haha. I've put the car into my local garage to take the headlight out while I'm away with work and hopefully when I get back it will be sorted.

Let us know how you get on with this and what the issue was.

I watched as my drivers side clip fell down somewhere inside the headlight :(

Luckily I already had a planned trip to a Fiat breakers in Rochdale to exchange a seatbelt so could get a replacement clip.

Does anyone know if its possible to fit it while the headlight is in situ?
Or do I have to do the whole bumper off &remove light saga?

And it' not that easy to fit them in situ, you need to be upside down in the engine bay for this.

So get a mirror & think backwards :)

When refitting ensure that the tangs that stick out of the clip are bent out & not flat.
Easy with the mirror, torch & pliers.

There was no need to take the headlight out for this task if you have a new clip - only if you need to find the old one :)

Refitting the bulb is easily done by looking through the headlight front.

It must be harder on the T jet than the M jet. I've just got my GP and I noticed it was bog-eyed i.e. the drivers headlight was blinding people and the light spread was terrible. I checked the builds asked the drivers wasn't seated correctly. I refitted it in Sainsbury's car park in 60 seconds no trouble. Easy to access.
