I have a 1.3 Multijet (90BHP). My Air Con pump is rattling badly, I never use the air con so dont really want to replace the expensive pump. Can I fit an Aux belt for a non air con model and bypass the air con pump pully?

I aren't sure on this particular engine but I know someone did it on an astra 2.0 litre engine but he removed all the aircon stuff to save weight (rad, pump, piping) his worked fine and was a lot "revvy-er" apparently.

Thanks guys, job done! Smaller belt now fitted.

Took it for a quick road test, nice and quiet and I swear it seemed quicker, or was I imagining that?

less 'drag' on engine, car with lose 7-12bhp with air-con activated, nothing for big diesels but a noticable difference for smaller engines.
