Hi guys,

I am thinking about getting a K&N air filter like this one as my stock one is due for a change but need a couple of questions answering. My car is a 1.2 8v GP 3door.

What will it do to the noise of my car? Will it make it louder or quieter?
Is there any performance gain in regards to acceleration?
What would it do to the fuel economy?

I know K&N claim it is a worthy upgrade to made but I want to hear about people who have one fitted and can comment on the reliability of it etc?

Get a BMC one lol (much better reputation) Dont think you will get any performance gains from one of these, Alot of people reccomend GSR induction for performance

The filter is quite good, but it wouldn't make a noticeable difference to performance or noise.

I recently got a k&n panel filter and tbh no noticeable difference in my 1.2 8v. Although 2nd to 3rd gear is now smoother, thats the only change. Hope that helps in buying.

i got it on the 1.4, makes no difference at all to the sound and didn't notice any performance gains.

Thats good to hear about the noise!
As for the comments about 2nd and 3rd gear been smoother that is brill news because there is a huge hill near me that I go up and down everyday to work so it might make a difference and I might not have to do it in 2nd and have such a thrashy engine noise.

Wont make any difference.

i replaced ma pannel filter last week, 2 days later it was replaced with the k&n direct replacement for the airbox http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=57-0655 and got a good gain and also a better sound from ma exhaust

No you didnt get a "good" gain. You will have probably lost power.

wel put it this way, i was suffering lag and thats gone and it takes off lyk **** of a shovel now, just to get chip and re-map done

As long as you get both chip and remap done, that'l sort it out

thats the plan, just looking for place in central scotland that does re-maping lol

Good luck with that, if you get your car rolling roaded, before and after the K&N, you will notice a drop in power and torque. The extra "power" you feel is just the extra noise it makes.

:worship: thats freaking immense chip and a remap to be sure
