Technical £250 for a second service??

I ment check it carefully as it what has/has not been done.

Check tappets?
Engine ECU checked on examiner (printout)
EOBD system checked
Timing belt checked
Door locks oiled?
Pollen filter?

Are these cheaper large dealership chains carry out the service to the Fiat service sheet?

IMO I would avoid any garage that operates a technician timed bonus scheme or reception staff scheme (more cars booked in more bonus) as I doubt either of these will provide you with a full correct service as stated by Fiat / proper customer service.

So AC not doing these checks then T ? Would be peed off if I have paid my hard earned cash and job not done fully.

£250 is a decent price for a main dealer 2nd year service (y)

The quote for the M-Jet's second year service came out at nearly £450 iirc and ended up costing £350 at my nearest dealer (that was after shopping around and playing a few dealers off each over)

Our M-jet recently had it's 2nd year service and has covered only 10k miles. Dealer stung me for £390  and when I challenged them about the ridiculous price they said that this service was quite labour intensive. In the end I paid, but unhappy decided to take it up with Fiat UK. Eventually they told me that they should not had charged that much should and have done a low mileage service again (next service is going to be free), so my advice is shop around. FIAT dealers need to get their act together and charge sensible prices.

No I should of perhaps put that a bit better/clearer(edited post to reflect this). I know garages that carry out Fiats service sheet to the letter but some dont, example arnold clark dont charge you for a rocker cover gasket yet service sheet states check tappets so one can only assume they were not checked?

Obviously this is reflected in the price but on the service sheet I would expect to see the 'check tappets' box not ticked .I think however this is done for a extra charge? My point is, is this acceptable/true to the service sheet?

p.s. I was recently showed a autodata service sheet for vauxhall and at services there is a extra charge to check tyre pressures:eek:

Service prices are a complete lottery, My wifes 500 first service A.C. Edinburgh £155. A.C. Dunfermline £90. Maybe you can explain the pricing policy used by them.

Cheers Ian

Too right it's a complete lottry mate!

I phoned four dofferent dealers, one being right up north, which T knows about :D (very cheap!) and other three where north west, i got four different prices (y)

They gave me a copy of their service checklist...it covers everything you've mentioned plus more obviously. I'm going to get the fiat requirements checklist off them as well just to make sure. They are a proper fiat dealership...its the GK group in sheffield. I have a few friends who used them and they said they were great. As long as I'm getting it done through a dealer which is recommended by the FIAT Group I cant see how I can go wrong... I'm going to book it in for next week so I'll update you guys lol...(y)

Where do you get your bmw serviced? Costs £80 just for a brake fluid change at the dealer we use.

Yea they do charge that amount normally, but its all about having a friend who works for bmw lol... then you find out the true cost. I use blue bell bmw in cheshire because i know them well and i get my car serviced for a fraction of the price they normally ask for:yum:
