hi mate. have you got the recall number? is it easy to provide this aswell. thanks a lot.
My chassis number falls into that category. Same as the above post is there a recall number and are the Fiat dealers aware of it?

I'm on the other side of the world, but I'm wondering if we in Australia might get the same, er... re- recall.
My '06 1.3 JTD is in that chassis range. Just bought it, 50,000km on the odo, just out of warranty (of course). I've had it a month, I noticed after a few days that the steering had some play in it and bad rack rattle over bumps. Took it to a Fiat dealer, having checked with Fiat Australia that it already had been part of a steering shaft recall replacement campaign, and the mechanic simply tightened a bolt at the upper steering shaft area (about where the electric pwr assist is) and that fixed it.
Is steering play as I've described a common symptom of this problem?

Only just had a new steering rack fitted, as my old one was extremely ****ed and the steering would fall all the way round the left
steering that steers its self lol ...if my VIN comes within these but ive just had a new rack? do i need to have the recall done if you see what i say?

Great! Gets me too... Coupled with a post on another thread I think I have decided what to do with the piece of crap that I call my car!

It isn't. The steering shaft isn't the issue.
Garee, am i missing something here? What previous recall?
Btw T, I am the second owner of my car....will i actually receive recall letters? The only recall I have had to worry about was the one for the climate control, and my dealer just did that while it was in.

Aslong as you are registered keeper, if not Fiat or dealer will track you down to carry out the work
An hour is sufficent time to allow for this recall.
